Cynthia’s Tallit

Cynthia’s blue tallit is another of my early tallits. She lived on the Oregon coast with her parents and five brothers. When we talked, the first question I asked was her favorite colors. The answered came quickly, “I love the sea and the sky, the blues are what make me happy.” So blue it was. This one I wove in a simple plain weave with borders in a twill with silver and white. Both the warp and weft are in 20/2 silk and I twisted the fringe which makes a lovely finish. The tallit bag follows the color and weave of the tallit, with a flap and magnetic closure.  Cynthia’s is the oldest of her sibs and I’m now working with the next in line, Arthur. It will be interesting to see what his inspirations are.
