Jennie’s Tallit

Jennie told me she LOVED purple! (I find lots of bat mitzvah girls love purple.) She also said she wasn’t a “plain” girl, but rather liked fancy things. So I designed a tallit with several different shades of purple and on a second warp wove a “fancy” design using some pink and white. This second cloth I sewed onto the tallit as a border between the different colors and also fashioned it into the atarah. I used 20/2 silk in the warp and 18/2 Zephyr (50% silk and 50% merino wool) in the weft. The tallit bag I constructed from the same fabric and sewed it with a flap closing and antique button.
