Rabbi’s White Tallit

I wove this white, black, gray and silver shawl for a female rabbi who lives in Texas. She told me her tallit for the high holidays had been given to her 20 years ago, was wool and very hot, and had gotten rather thread bare. She wanted an all white, narrow tallit with simple conservative black and white border woven in a light-weight silk. I always finish the tallit ends with a hand-stitching that gives a nice look but also secures that last weft row. This detail also gives a close up of a twisted fringe.

I followed her instructions, but added a little more interest with the gray and silver. She liked it very much 🙂
